Message from the Principals

Hello, and welcome to the webpage for the Camden Community Charter School. As Principal for the school, it is my privilege to be serving the young men and women of Camden. Like the rest of our staff, I wake up every morning encouraged by their spirit and ambition, and with a commitment to see them succeed here, in future academic endeavors and in life.

Camden Community Charter School currently has 700 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. We are based in a brand-new, state of the art school building with a separate, brand-new gym. Both buildings are on a pristine and secure gated campus on Linden Street between 8th and 9th Streets. Each of our classrooms features a SmartBoard™ and an iPad cart with an iPad for every student. Additionally, our computer lab features the most modern personal computers setup with specialized software to enhance the learning experience and prepare students for the digital world.

Our teachers are all New Jersey certified and we have teaching assistants with college degrees in each classroom, many of whom are on the road to teacher-accreditation. Camden Community Charter teachers use modern, data driven methods and curricula to help educate every student individually.

These are the building blocks we use to accomplish our mission, to empower students as learners. If you are a parent in Camden, I hope you will consider Camden Community Charter for your child’s education. If you are a community member interested in being a part of Camden’s renaissance, I look forward to working with you. Together, we can help the young men and women of Camden get the educations they need to lead Camden to a better, brighter future.

Greetings,

I am honored and excited to serve the Camden Community Charter School Family as third through eighth grade Principal. We are dedicated to providing a student-centered educational program that promotes academic excellence. Our goal is to ensure that all students become critical thinkers, active problem solvers, and prolific readers and writers. Teachers continually participate in professional development in the core content areas in an effort to keep up with the demands of teaching and learning.  As a staff, we are here to support all students and parents so that our students reach their fullest academic potential. We look forward to working with our parents as well as all members of the community to provide a high quality education. Parental support and involvement is essential to the success of your child/children. We encourage you to become involved with PTA sponsored events and to keep the lines of communication open with your child’s teacher. Together we will make Camden Community Charter School a great place to work and learn!

Sincerely,
Kia Johnson
