Today’s decision to revoke the charter of the Camden Community Charter School (CCCS) is extremely disappointing and completely unwarranted.
In its three-and-a-half short years of educating Camden’s students, CCCS and its dedicated teachers have helped stabilize one of Camden’s most troubled neighborhoods. The CCCS team has provided a safe and enriching learning environment with a constantly improving education option for the children of Camden.
This spring, when CCCS third graders sit for their first standardized tests, they will in fact be the first class of students to have spent their entire academic careers at the school. We have seen much progress among our students and are confident that there is far more to come.
What is paramount to CCCS is creating the best opportunities for the children of Camden and their families. It is our commitment to this community that has driven us this far and that commitment is unwavering.
We are reviewing the state’s decision and considering our options, including pursuing litigation.
